Artist
Daan den Houter
The Rotterdam-based visual artist Daan den Houter (1977) works across multiple disciplines, with the concept determining his choice of medium. He is known for paintings that melt as you look at them and is the creator and curator of the "Overschilderschilderij," which has now been painted over by 161 artists. A work period in Los Angeles in 2017-2018 inspired him to create his current series, the "stripes paintings." These colourful works stimulate perception and the mind; what seems quickly sketched is, in fact, a meticulously engraved line filled with polished epoxy—a precise and time-consuming process.
