Artist
Daphne Glasmacher
Visual artist Daphne Glasmacher (1979) has been fascinated since her youth by optical illusions, natural phenomena in light, time, and space, and contrasts in everyday life. She draws inspiration from materials and structures that create suggestive optical movements through light and shadow. With her work, she invites the viewer to perceive different interpretations from various perspectives. At the heart of Daphne's art lies the interplay of contrasts that come together in harmony. She works with light, rhythm, lines, and geometric forms, playing with the right proportions and contrasts in colour and material to create powerful compositions. Glasmacher's work, characterised by light and layering, is realised using various techniques in both 2D and 3D. She employs mixed media, print, stop-motion, objects, projection, and spatial installations. With a fondness for materials such as plexiglass and glass, she combines traditional craftsmanship with modern technologies.
