Vincent Mock

Vincent Mock (1980) is an Amsterdam-based visual artist who embodies many worlds. From the African wilderness to the depths of the ocean, his role as a 'Naturalist' is always reflected in his work. Life-sized sculptures of endangered marine animals, gigantic fossilised deer antlers adorned with thousands of glass beads, and the golden skull of a poached rhinoceros are just a few of the many artworks he has created to communicate his ideas about the world we live in. Whether he prompts us to reflect on the transience of life on Earth or poses questions about the complexity of human consciousness, Mock does not let us rest easily. He stimulates our imagination and reminds us of our interdependence with the natural world, or perhaps of the bond we are at risk of losing. Vincent Mock is self-taught and works from his studio in Amsterdam.

'Great Hammerhead'

"Hooked on Life" is a tribute to the last marine megafauna, highlighting the alarming decline of our oceans. This series features life-sized sculptures of endangered marine animals, crafted from thousands of longline fishing hooks. Each sculpture serves as a poignant reminder of the ocean's true giants and the urgent need for conservation.
