Jacqueline Wouters

Raised among both nature and the raw materials of her grandfather’s steel company in Mijdrecht, Jacqueline Wouters transforms industrial clarity into poetic abstraction. Her two-dimensional works feature recurring shapes such as circles, ovals, lines and tubes — sometimes open and organic, sometimes strict and industrial. The result is rhythmic yet calm, balancing matte and glossy textures, opaque and transparent layers, muted and vibrant tones.

Wouters works in layers on MDF or canvas: fast-drying acrylic or watercolour as the base, followed by oil paint to create depth and fluid transitions. Each composition begins with sketches, photographs or cut-out patterns, with templates ensuring crisp, geometric forms. Her pieces range from small to medium-sized and never include a horizon — allowing geometry itself to take centre stage.
